Frequently Asked Questions
Yes! I’m in-network with Blue Cross Blue Shield PPO. If you’re out-of-network, I provide a superbill so you can seek potential reimbursement directly from your insurance company. I also accept private pay.
For deductible, co-pay, and private pay, secure payment transactions can be made through my client portal SimplePractice, Zelle, and Venmo.
Most plans cover speech therapy, but coverage for stuttering and related fluency disorders varies depending on your specific plan. I offer a free insurance verification for every client, so you’ll know your coverage and any out-of-pocket costs before we start.
Therapy sessions are usually weekly or biweekly, and last about 45 to 60 minutes. In terms of how long we’ll work together, every child is different: some families see real change in 4 to 6 sessions, while others need longer-term support. Many families eventually move to monthly or quarterly check-ins once things are on track. This type of therapy is flexible, so we can monitor your child’s progress at each session and adjust our plan as we need to.
Yes! In-home services are available for Chicago clients and select suburban families, while virtual services are available for anyone.
We can’t yet predict with certainty which children will outgrow stuttering and which won’t. That’s exactly why I recommend early intervention rather than a wait-and-see approach. An evaluation now gives you real answers instead of months of uncertainty, and if we choose to monitor instead of starting treatment right away, we’ll be able to check back in to track any changes.
Traditional fluency-focused therapy asks the client to consciously use speech strategies when they talk, which can be challenging for young children. It also tends to over-focus on the mechanics of speech, while ignoring the other and often bigger pieces of the puzzle of stuttering, which are the emotional and cognitive aspects
My approach broadens our focus and looks at all aspects of your child’s communication and development, not just your child’s speech. From there, we can identify ways to support your child in a more holistic and individualized way.
That’s completely normal, and in my experience, very common. One of the strengths of this approach is that your observations at home matter just as much as what I see in a session. We’ll build our plan around your day-to-day experience, not just the 45 minutes we’re together.
Though my current focus is on early childhood stuttering, I also see older children, teens, and adults who stutter or clutter, along with adults seeking voice therapy, gender-affirming care, and neurodiversity-affirming care for speech, language, accent, or social communication needs. I continue to accept a limited number of these clients, so feel free to reach out for a free discovery call if you’re interested in these services.
